Who doesn't have a soft spot for Scrabble? When you ask someone to name a board game, Scrabble is almost always among the top three responses, typically following Monopoly and preceding Cluedo. It's universally recognized, easy to grasp, and brings a quick dose of amusement, which is why we thought it would be an ideal activity for speed dating. So, how does Scrabble Dating work?

Similar to our speed dating events, you'll have the opportunity to meet each person one-on-one, but this time, there will be a Scrabble board in front of you. Just like in traditional Scrabble, you'll select your letters and form words on the board. The twist in Scrabble Dating is to aim for playing a risqué word if possible. While we won't be keeping formal scores, there will be prizes for the guy and girl who come up with the highest-scoring risqué words. Feel free to seize the chance to spell out something cheeky or even a bit naughty. Remember where and with whom you played it, as we'll announce the winners at the end of the event.

For starters, it's simply loads of fun! Just look at the enduring popularity of Countdown. Secondly, it's a game that lends itself well to being played in rounds, making it perfect for breaking up the evening—each round becomes a mini-date. Plus, we can inject some excitement by allowing risqué and swear words, since it's not a conventional game played from start to finish. Moving to a new board each round (for the guys) and receiving a fresh set of letters adds an extra layer of challenge. You can impress your date with your expansive vocabulary or catch them off guard with a unexpected naughty word.
